Blogging may be something really new for some of us but the basic concept couldn’t be older. It’s about relationships and communicating and sharing life. That is what life is meant to be anyway isn’t it.
I’ve read various blog offerings by others over the course of the last number of years, but it is a new experience for me to actually be writing one. But hey, being a pastor for the past 20 years and being now 49 years old, people who know me know I don’t have any problem going on about any particular subject so …
I am sure of one thing - this is something that is at the heart of what we are all about – sharing the journey. The stuff we encounter in life, well, I’m just glad that I’m not on my own here. He is with me. And I have others, traveling along, encountering a lot of the same stuff. And sometimes we can get kind of myopic, but that just makes it that much more important to lift our heads, not just to heaven to acknowledge Him, but to speak out to others, to encourage, to be encouraged and even to challenge one another in the tough times.
Sharing the journey isn’t just about knowing that other people are making the same trip, it’s about being able to talk about it with someone who can understand; who can sympathize. It’s the opposite of the ‘aloneness’ that characterizes so much of our contemporary culture.
And so, fellow traveling companions, as I launch out on this new blogging venture, it really isn’t anything new. It is just another exciting opportunity to share the journey.
